Synopsis
The show, symbolically inspired by Queen Grimilde’s mirror, explores themes central to the lives of today’s children – the so-called ‘Glass Generation’ – who have grown up surrounded by screens, selfies, filters and idealised images. The Empress’s New Clothes highlights the risk of living in a reality dominated by appearances, where the pressure to always be ‘perfect’ stifles authentic self-expression.
Through an engaging narrative and evocative set design, the audience is taken on a journey that invites reflection on our relationship with image, the power of screens and the value of authenticity. The show encourages children and adults alike to trust themselves, to listen to their inner voice and to express themselves freely, without fear of external judgement.
A modern fairy tale that speaks of mirrors, but also of inner reflections. An invitation to look within to rediscover that little flame that guides us even in the darkest moments. Because, sometimes, the most beautiful dress is that of authenticity.
The themes of the show are conveyed through a clownish, physical language with very few words, which fits into the contemporary context in which we live whilst remaining
within the magical setting of fairy tales. The clownish language used has its roots precisely in children’s behaviour: instinctive, simple, direct, playful and somewhat illogical. The
exploration of image and the interplay between reality and fiction take centre stage, creating visual misunderstandings and comical, surreal situations that involve both the protagonist and the audience, who will find themselves
unwittingly playing the role of the people.
