Synopsis
A pair of birds moving in perfect synchrony, as if they know each other well and understand one another instantly. A harmony that gives rise to an egg. Perfect. Beautiful. Fragile. The most precious thing of all.
Filled with joy, the two little birds set about building a nest: they want it to be large and cosy to protect their egg as best they can. It takes patience, ingenuity, imagination and determination, and our two birds have all of these in abundance. And yet… every time they’re just a step away from finishing, something goes wrong.
Only after countless comical setbacks, which will put their convictions and harmony to the test, will our heroes realise that the key is to discard the superfluous to get to the essential.
The show is the third instalment in a ‘trilogy of emotions’ aimed at very young children, which explores a form of theatre without words and using only a few props. The previous instalments dealt with friendship that transcends differences (The Story of a Boy and a Penguin) and love (Hugs). *Nido* aims to tell children about how their parents awaited them, with joy and trepidation, preparing the perfect place for them to grow up with all their care and love.
The show therefore approaches the theme of the moment immediately ‘before’ birth with humour and sensitivity. It explores how a growing family must constantly step out of their comfort zone, argue at times, certainly ask for help, be able to rely on an entire community, and never give up.
A light-hearted way to help children discover all the dedication and care that made their arrival possible. A tribute to all imperfect parents.
